They're really tiny! How do you feed them and what do they eat ? In nature, how would they be fed, and with what foods?

I love it grandmother how you care of these little ones, thank you very much. :)  Post time 2018-11-15 06:01
thank you, it's interesting to know !  Post time 2018-07-04 04:36
normally the parents feed them, but in this case the parents were way to young and when we would have left them, the young ones would die  Post time 2018-07-04 04:34
we feed them with a special baby formula for macaws wit a sirenge, that wil take about 3 months and than they start eat themselves  Post time 2018-07-04 04:32

They are so tiny.  So good of you to take care of them so they don't die.

Sounds like they are doing well under your care.  Post time 2018-07-04 07:23

Awww, they are so cute. They are growing like weeds. Can't wait to see them when they have all their adult feathers!

Comments

Oh. Well I'm glad you stepped in and helped out the parents!  Post time 2018-07-05 22:49
the reason we hand feed them, is that the parents were to young an did not yet know what to do, two choices, either they would die or we feed them, we choose to feed them  Post time 2018-07-05 04:26
Sorry for the double comment. Yeah, I can't see the blue feathers forming but I'll take your word for it. Question: Are you hand-rearing them? If so, is there a reason? Don't know much about them.  Post time 2018-07-05 02:57
Waiting for the feathers, I mean.  Post time 2018-07-05 02:53
lol, yeah, I know. Gonna go back up to the pictures and see if I can see the blue ones you are talking about. I'll be waiting, maybe not so patiently. hahaha  Post time 2018-07-05 02:51
that will take a while, when we look up close, we can see the forming of the blue ones under the skin, first you get grey fluffy ones, than the blue  Post time 2018-07-05 02:44

Aw, little babies! That's a lot of work for you but so worth it, I hope they grow into healthy big birds.

So you really do become their mother, don't you? When they are grown do they still treat you like their parent?

Comments

in the beginning they do, but afterwards when they live with the other ones, they are just normal macaws who could bite mean.  Post time 2018-07-07 10:50
